RYAN MANNIX

Strong. Creative. Supportive.

Ryan has always had a keen interest in movement. He was a professional athlete for over ten years, representing Australia in both running and duathlon. When Ryan was sidelined with an injury from a serious bike accident, he started yoga as a means of rehabilitation. What was meant to be short term, became a long loving passion for this new form of movement. Yoga became a new opportunity to move and feel connected.

Ryan’s classes are focused around a strong flowing movement, but also very much centred around connecting with the body and calming the mind. His nuturing presence creates a supportive space for his students to delve deeper into their asana practice.

After two years of practice, Ryan completed his first 200 hour teacher training in Bali though Bohdi Yoga. He has since gone on to study with Laughing Lotus, Yoke yoga, yin yoga with Hugh Lee and Jen Crescenzo, hot yoga with Jimmy Barkan, amongst many other short courses and workshops in Australia and abroad.

Nurturing. Intuitive. Playful.

"Teach to learn and learn to teach" was the motto where Cecily undertook her first 200hr teaching training at Yogaworks in the US.  An eternal student, Cecily has dedicated herself to the practice, studying yoga since discovering its joys and benefits while living in New York in 2003.  She has trained in the disciplines of Prana Flow (Shiva Rea), Anusara (Noah Maze, Desiree Rumbaugh), Hatha (Rod Stryker), Prenatal (Janice Clarfield) and Yin (Jennifer Crescenzo) and combines elements of these styles into a dynamic and inspiring alignment-based flow.

Cecily ensures each class includes a balance of pranayama, relaxation and meditation as a "well-rounded practice brings a sense of lightness and joy and more importantly, practising these disciplines encourages a deeper exploration of the true essence of yoga; union of the body, mind and spirit".

As a mumma to two small boys, yoga has become a constant tool for Cecily to maintain balance and health both physically and mentally.  She is passionate about sharing the joy that yoga can bring to your life, encouraging students to play their edge, while providing a safe, encouraging, nonjudgmental environment where each individual can awaken into their full potential.

Manoj Dias

MANOJ DIAS

Strong. Empowering. Mindful.

Manoj grew up amongst the temples and ashrams of Sri Lanka, but his yoga journey really began in 2007 after a sporting injury led him to seek yoga as a form of rehabilitation. Seduced by the physicality of the asana practice and the feeling of calm after class, he developed an on again off again relationship to the practice, jumping on and off the mat sporadically for numerous years.

Fast-forward 7 years, Manoj found himself weighed down by the rigors of a 10-year corporate marketing career which eventually led to a battle with a serious stress and anxiety disorder. After consulting numerous specialists and therapies without luck, he turned to meditation and yoga as a last ditch effort to help him recover. He did.

The healing properties of a consistent Yoga and Meditation practice led him to travel the world learning from many great teachers. Manoj is now a firm believer in healing the body and mind from within through our capacity to live in awareness.

He spent many years looking for answers outside of himself, until he was shown the way to find them inside. His sole aim, as a yoga and meditation teacher, is to help others find healing through holistic practices that cultivate greater Self-awareness and the ability to live freely and fearlessly through the heart.

He is the co-founder of A-space.

Shannon Powell

Shannon teaches Keep It Mellow

Flowing. Innovative. Grounded.

Shannon practiced yoga for 10 years before completing her teacher training in Hatha and Vinyasa Yoga in Guatemala with the School of Yoga Institute. Her practice explores connectedness through an active and meditative flow that is designed to strengthen the body and the mind. Having studied creative writing and philosophy at university, she enjoys weaving poetry and quotes into her classes, as well as mindfulness techniques and massage. She believes deeply in the importance of mind body connection, using sensory awareness, pranayama exercises and anatomical reference points to connect with the subtle energetic body.

Her classes usually focus on particular areas of the body and the particular chakras that relate to these parts of the body. For example the class may focus on hip openers or heart openers, to create a deeper opening and expansion in this area over the span of the class. However, the classes are also designed in a way that is balanced and stimulating/ restorative for the body, mind and spirit as a whole. The classes are physically challenging but also deeply meditative.
