Vinyasa Flow Cystic Fibrosis Fundraising Class

  • Good Vibes Collingwood 62 Easey Street Collingwood, VIC, 3066 Australia (map)

We’re proud to support GV teacher Georgia Mort with this important fundraising initiative. May is not just about the cooler autumn weather, it's also the national month dedicated to raising awareness and much needed funds for cystic fibrosis (CF), a genetic disorder that affects thousands of people worldwide. As someone living with CF, Georgia is passionate about rallying support for this condition that impacts individuals and families in profound ways.

During May, people are encouraged to come together to engage in 65 minutes of physical activity in honour of CF. ’65 roses’ is how children around the world are taught to pronounce their incurable, life-shortening disease.

All proceeds from this 65 minute Vinyasa Flow class will go to Cystic Fibrosis Community Care, who provide practical support, advocacy and information to those in VIC and NSW living with CF. By joining together, we can make a meaningful difference in the lives of those affected by CF.

What is Cystic Fibrosis?

Cystic fibrosis is a genetic disease that primarily affects the lungs and digestive system. It causes thick, sticky mucus to build up in the lungs, making it difficult to breathe and increasing the risk of lung infections. Additionally, CF can obstruct the pancreas, preventing digestive enzymes from reaching the intestines to break down food properly, leading to malnutrition and poor growth. Despite one in 25 Australians carrying the defective gene, making cystic fibrosis the most common genetic chronic illness in Australia today, there is very little awareness of the disease. While advancements in treatment have significantly improved the quality of life and life expectancy for individuals with CF, it remains a challenging condition to manage. CF affects each person differently, and some may experience more severe symptoms and complications than others.

Minimum cost for this class is $34, we encourage you to pay more for your spot if you are able to (option available at point of purchase).
